Robert J. Henry received a J.D. from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1982. He holds an M.A. from the University of Texas (1978) and a B.A. with Honors from the University of Wisconsin (1976).

Mr. Henry has nearly 30 years of successful experience in government and private practice. Following a judicial clerkship with the Ohio Court of Appeals, he served as an attorney-advisor on the staff of the National Labor Relations Board Member Howard Jenkins. After leaving the National Labor Relations Board in 1984, he went into private practice at O’Donoghue & O’Donoghue in Washington D.C. In 1993, he joined Blake & Uhlig where he has practiced as a partner since 1994 and served as the firm’s President from 2010 to 2013. At both firms, he has limited his practice exclusively to the representation of labor unions and multi-employer pension, health & welfare, and apprenticeship funds.

Mr. Henry’s practice has involved litigation and client counseling with respect to the full panoply of the U.S. labor laws including ERISA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, OSHA, Landrum-Griffin, Uniform Arbitration Act and Title VII. He has litigated on behalf of clients in a variety of forums ranging from federal district and appellate courts to bankruptcy court and from private arbitration to federal administrative courts and agencies such as the NLRB. He has been involved in collective bargaining, including as chief negotiator for both local and national contracts and in federal mediation. He has served as General Counsel to several labor unions and several pension, health & welfare, and apprenticeship funds. 

In addition to his practice, Mr. Henry has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Kansas School of Law and has also been involved in contributing to the labor law treatise Developing Labor Law, presenting papers on PLAs, responsible bidding policies, contract negotiations, and conducting training seminars for union officers and Taft-Hartley Fund Trustees. Mr. Henry has been recognized in Ingrams’ Magazine Best Lawyers 2013 for union-side labor lawyers.
