Firm History

Blake & Uhlig, P.A. was founded in 1972 when John J. Blake and Robert L. Uhlig formed a partnership to represent labor unions and their affiliated trust funds.

John and Bob set a high standard of representation that the current lawyers at our firm strive to maintain. John and Bob felt that the attorneys at Blake & Uhlig should be part of the labor movement as well as advocates for unions and working people.

Our firm has grown to include representation of international unions, local unions, and international and local union jointly administered employee benefit plans. Although our primary client base rests in a four-state area (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska), our practice is national in scope.

For over 50 years, our firm has specialized in the representation of unions and employee benefit funds throughout the United States. Our attorneys come from diverse backgrounds and represent public and private sector unions and employee benefit funds in a wide array of industries, including construction, transportation, utility, and service.

From a two man shop in Kansas City, Kansas, Blake & Uhlig has grown into one of the largest union-side law firms in the region representing clients throughout the Midwest and the nation.
